Comments:
France plays a predominant role in the Jordanian economy. It is the second largest foreign investor in the country, the French aid is predominent in the repayment of the Jordanian debts. France played an important role in the Paris Club Agreements.
Trade between France & Jordan has increased to 239,869,000 Euros of French exports in 2007 vs Jordanian exports to France of only 15,252,000 Euros.
After the conversion of part of the French debts into investments, many French companies have had great success in Jordan Areva, Lafarge, Accor, Bureau Veritas, Infilco Degrémont, France Telecom, Coface, Aeoroport de Paris, Air France, Total, Carrefour etc.)
The Euro-Mediterranean agreements signed in 1997 between the European Community and Jordan envisage the establishment of Free Zones before 2010.
